Family Pride has announced that early bird registration is open for its 11th annual Family Week event in Provincetown, Mass., set for July 29-Aug. 5, 2006. Family Pride is the only national organization exclusively dedicated to securing equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) parents and their families.
“Once again, we are thrilled to be hosting this amazing gathering for LGBT families from across the country,” said Jennifer Chrisler, executive director of Family Pride. “Our families are an important part of the LGBT civil rights battle and they are on the frontlines of educating Americans about the reality of our lives. It is important to give parents and their children a safe place to gather, an opportunity to re-energize and access to the tools we need to create a more just society. I invite everyone who cares about equality for all families to be a part of this historic week.”
Family Week activities include educational and advocacy-focused workshops and social activities for parents and their children.
Family Pride has again invited COLAGE (Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere) to offer social and educational programming for youth nine years and older. Some of the additional adventures include whale-watching tours, barbecues, beach parties, a family parade and a family dance.
Early bird registration is available through March 31, 2006 for $165 per family, and $125 for single-parented families. After March 31, registration will be $190 per family and $150 for single-parented families. On site registration will be $215/$175.
Registration forms are available online at http://www.familypride.org or by calling (202) 331-5015.
